Enjoy Hiking Table Mountain Platteklip Gorge trail.
Table Mountain Platteklip Gorge is one of the most direct routes to the top of Table Mountain and was recorded to be first “explored” in 1503.
On the 1st of October 2023 I had the honour of doing an informative adventure guided hike on Table Mountain with Sergio and his lovely wife Sara. They had quite the interest of knowing what makes the Cape Floral Kingdom so special, what is the main top flowering species and lots of other intellegent questions that was very thought provoking as it always is on my Guided Table Mountain adventure hiking trails.
As it was just after the start of spring in The Mother City Cape Town South Africa there are loads to see and amazing things to talk about. The sunrise was most spectacular greeting us with the most amazing setting in the World. We did not hesitate to get going for it is known that on hot days Platteklip Gorge can be very strenuous if you come I’ll prepared and start late.
There were many local folk out hiking soaking up the splendours of nature and the beauty Table Mountain Platteklip Gorge trail has to offer.
Table Mountain Platteklip Gorge trail is often referred to as the Longstreet of Table Mountain as it see’s many visitors over the year and especially during the Spring and Summer months. The route is well maintained and the meandering of the trail makes for awesome view points of the Central Business District of Cape Town.
Once at the top of Tabl Mountain Platteklip Gorge trail I always (weather depending) take a Left this is where I give a more intimate sense of guiding by having the guests experience the aroma’s of Buchu.
The Marsh Daisy Bells Kruie is a favourite of mine and always has the guests thinking what it was used for. The Marsh Daisy gives off a beautiful fresh scent of menthol.
I also take the time to point out the Adenendrun and this gives of a strong citrus scent before ending off with a beautiful view of the peninsula.
Once done visiting the back table we head for the cable car for a quick restroom stop and to take some pictures of the West facing slopes over looking the Twelve Apostles and Camps bay.
