Explore the Beauty of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

Explore the Beauty of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Upon visiting the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens you will find Nature’s bounty full abundance. I came highly recommended by Gillian to Mr. and Mrs. Thompson for their visit to Cape Town.

Although it was during our rainy and wet winter season, we managed to explore Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens with out getting wet. We certainly got a light sprinkle of drizzle but not enough to need a rain coat, I called it showers of blessings. As we entered we were greeted by the famous chattery Sunbirds, dotting and diving between the fynbos and giving us a great show of their acrobats.

The sunbirds definitely broke the ice and we soon got to chatting. I shared information of the size of the Gardens and what sets it apart from the other botanical gardens in the country. Tiffany and Kevin was quite taken by the up keep and I told them that each section is dedicated to a Hort that is in charge of it including the staff of the Kirstenbosch botanical gardens of over 370 members helping with the up keep and maintenance.

We made our way to the elevated walk way called the Boomslang to explore the tree canopy and get a view of the Gardens and further afield.

Kevin made note that we get a picture together as we missed our opportunity at the start and Tiffany suggested that we should get it done while in the tree canopy and I happily obliged.

After our visit to the Boomslang we headed for the Protea Garden and Fynbos Garden.

Explore the beauty of Kirstenbosch botanical gardens is great fun. We took some amazing snaps of the King Protea, the South African national floer.
We also came across the Hadida Ibis and with great curiosity of Tiffany and Kevin, I explained to them; that is the bird that is often making that alarming call early in the morning many tourists find annoying upon visiting South Africa. I told them that’s the bird Oprah Winfrey and Pharell Williams makes a fuss of on social media networks.

We made our way to the Cycad Garden to explore the significance of these living fossils, Gymnosperms because of their exposed seeds. Yellow wood trees, slowest growing Hard woods are also part of the Gymnosperm family.

After our visit to the fynbos garden and experiencing the useful plants within the Cape Floral Kingdom collectively called Buchu. I made note of the flowering Garlic Buchu which is an absolute favourite of mine, that always smells potently magnificent and also the confetti bush.

Another absolute favourite is the Brachysiphon Fucatus in full bloom parading it’s beautiful pink colour.

Kevin and Tiffany’s tour of the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens guided by me was nearing a close. We headed down to the fragrant themed garden to explore and experience by touch and smell the various scented Fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom before passing by the sculpted themed garden.

We sadly said our farewells but Mr. and Mrs. Thompson was very generous in adding a will deserved gratuity to their guided tour of their visit to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. I was ever so grateful to have been their Nature tour guide of the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. They also made note that they will most certainly pass on my credentials and contact information to family and friends coming to Cape Town for vacation, seeing I am qualified for the full Western Cape Province in Culture, Adventure and Nature tourist Guiding.
